    Der letzte Film steht fest:

578 Magnum, Vietnam 2022, 88 Min, Action, viet. OmdU

Topakk, Philippinen 2023, 113 Min, Action, tag. OmeU, Deutsche Premiere

„And when I say brutality, I don’t just mean hard-hitting fights using a whole barrage of martial arts styles. Oh no, there’s just as more blood and gore in Richard Somes’ film as there is in any horror movie – evisceration, decapitation, amputation and even an exploding head. Those are just some of the gory “delights” of Topakk… Fight after fight after fight after fight. Think the height of The Raid‘s mayhem but increase the action two-fold.“ – Nerdly

„How would we describe the back half of Topakk? Imagine if Timo Tjahjanto were allowed to recreate the warehouse scene from John Woo’s Hardboiled in his own ultra-violent style. Yes. Topakk is The Night Comes For Us meets Hardboiled… Topakk is a feast for action fans looking for another slice of ultra-violent action cinema from the Southeast Asia region. It foregoes artistic expression, instead delivering a brutal action flick where everyone faces to consequences of their actions and choices, made willingly or not.“ – Screen Anarchy

„Director Richard Somes stages non-stop brutality an carnage in the Ong-Bak or Raid manner, with a particular brawl-in-a-scrapyard grunginess that privileges gruesomeness over anything like martial artistry.“ – Kim Newman / johnnyalucard

„However, the real star of the sanguine show is of course the mega violence. The warehouse backdrop is filled with a plethora of tools and machinery with which to inflict the most injurious indignities. Cue outrageous obliterations with massive girders, industrial bandsaw savagery, and gigantic fan blade guillotining.“ – The People’s Movies

2018 lief „Book of Monsters“ auf dem Obscura, jetzt legt Stewart Sparke nach mit „How to Kill Monsters“, damit ist das Programm komplett.

How to Kill Monsters, UK 2023, 96 Min, Horror Komödie, eng. OV, Deutsche Premiere

    Frightfest 2023

„So How To Kill Monsters is all at once a Lovecraftian rewrite of John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) – with a lot of Joe Dante’s Gremlins (1984) and Clive Barker’s Hellraiser (1987) thrown in – and a splatterfest of Eighties-style practical effects, Raimi-esque pandemonium and blood by the bucketload. Mostly, though, it is very, very funny, sharing its absurd comic tone, and many of its cast members, with Book of Monsters (2018).“ – Projected Figures

„How to Kill Monsters clearly aims to be as silly and over-the-top as possible, making it the perfect movie to enjoy with your friends along with a few boxes of pizza and more than a few cans of beer. If you happen to be in the mood for an unashamedly old-school monster movie with dedicated performances, tons of practical creatures and gore effects, and enough jokes to leave you in stitches, this really is not a film you can afford to miss.“ – Dread Central
